There are two ways of reaching Loix. Either you follow the cycle path starting from La Couarde sur Mer along the salt marshes before getting to the harbor of Loix. Do not expect to see large sailing yacht here, the harbor is quite small and it is more about the name than the harbor itself. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to discover the only tide mill in a good state of preservation of the island, a symbol of the flourishing period of the trade of salt. Or alternatively you can follow the brand-new Salt Route along the only road leading to the village. The path continues past the Eco-museum of the salt marshes, an ideal place to discover the traditional production of sea salt. The heart of the village is a nice square named the Church square, hosting fierce games of petanque every afternoon, and the market square is the perfect place for doing shopping. Do not miss the Pointe du Groin and its particular beaches, which is one of the most discreet beaches of the entire ile de Re.
