We have just returned from a wonderful stay on the Ile de Ré. The house is beautiful, spacious and in a great quiet but central location in what we believe to be the best village on the island. The house had absolutely everything we needed and is very nicely and comfortably furnished and equipped. There is a great swimming pool and even a private pétanque court! We hope to return here next year - we are a family of five, all now adults, and there would be plenty of space for the children to bring future partners while still maintaining their privacy. Alexandre, our host, was simply a delight. His English is excellent (he lived in the UK for several years) and he is not only very efficient, helpful and welcoming, but also a lot of fun. You can't miss him - he probably drives the loudest car on the island! I pass on a tip that was given to me before our first visit to the island - if you want to hire bikes, book them in advance. We have been reserving them at Cyclosurf for 3 years and we highly recommend them. Bikes are absolutely the best way to travel on the island - the cycle paths are (a) everywhere (b) separate from the roads and (c) very well maintained. A big thank you to Alexandre, Florence and My Home in Ile de Ré for a very special holiday.
