On the south coast of the island of Ré, in the commune of Sainte-Marie, in the hamlet of La Noue, you will find the famous Grenettes beach. This place is characterized by its beautiful waves making it one of the best surf spots of the whole island.
At Les Grenettes, the waves of the Atlantic, coming from the west break on the old fish locks, forming magnificent waves suitable for surfing and other water sports of the same kind. It is therefore not surprising to meet many followers of these disciplines. Les Grenettes also host various surfing competitions, bringing together the best practitioners of this sport from all over the world.
In addition to water sports, the Grenettes beach allows you to practice other leisure activities such as fishing on foot. At low tide, holidaymakers can fish for oysters, clams and crustaceans. Otherwise, it is possible to make the kite to the extent that there is enough wind on this restored beach.
The municipality of Sainte-Marie-de-Ré did not fail to install certain equipments for the comfort of plagiarists: there is a spacious parking lot and toilets. Moreover, not far from the beach, there is a playground where you can practice tennis, ping-pong, petanque, etc.
Near the beach, restaurants and terraces invite holidaymakers to discover the gastronomy restored in an exceptional setting by the sea. Ice cream parlors and pizzerias, many along the beach, are the delight of the gourmands. The pubs and bars, meanwhile, are welcoming places to relax at the end of the day after a long exposure to the sun.
