Beaches Bois Plage en Re

During a stay at the island of Ré, a little detour to Bois-Plage is necessary in order to discover the treasures and the charm of this small village. Located on the south coast of the island, between La Couarde and Sainte-Marie, Bois-Plage-en-Ré is one of the most popular seaside resorts of the island. Surrounded by dunes and hidden behind a vast wooded area, the municipality has a wide scope of beaches, extending to 6 kilometers.

The sandy beach of Gollandières is renown among volleyball lovers since it hosts, each year, a stage of the French Championship of beach volleyball. The French team, "Team Yavbou", regularly comes here to train and refresh themselves before international competitions. Holidaymakers are also numerous to practice this sport on the sand of Bois-Plage.

Gollandières hosts water sports schools, a children's club, a traveling library and a picnic area. That is to say that activities to be practiced are numerous and meets all tastes and all ages. Professional surfers meet novices who learn to sail and seniors mix with toddlers who amuse themselves building sand castles.

Beach-goers can access various facilities, including free parking, sanitary facilities and showers, volleyball nets and an initiation pool. Security measures are reinforced during peak periods: emergency staff is on alert and swimming water is regularly analyzed to prevent any risk of pollution. For disabled people, access ramps to the beach are installed and off-road wheelchairs are at their disposal.

Gollandières beach is a long area of fine sand as far as the eye can see and can accommodate thousands of holidaymakers. It offers an unobstructed view of the island of Oléron and many tourists come to enjoy this spectacle, lying on the sand under the summer sun. There is always a space where to install your towel at Gollandières and everyone is entitled to a place in the sun.
